Product Overview

The SMART ODME is designed to monitor, record, and control ballast discharge on crude oil, product, and chemical tankers, including ICE-class vessels. Its modular design eliminates the need for traditional pump or motor bulkhead penetrations, making installation simpler and more reliable.

Fully compliant with MEPC 108(49) and MEPC 240(65) (for biofuels), the system includes all required components and features a built-in simulation mode for easy demonstration to port state control. Designed for straightforward retrofit, operation, and maintenance, the SMART ODME ensures discharge limits of 30 litres of oil per nautical mile or 1/30,000 of the previous cargo.

What is it?
The SMART ODME is an Oil Discharge Monitoring Equipment system designed to monitor, record, and control the discharge of oil-contaminated water from ships. It is a modular system that includes all components required to comply with international maritime regulations for oil discharge monitoring, including biofuel applications.

Where is it used?
It is used on crude oil, product, and chemical tankers, including ICE-class vessels. The system is applied during slop water discharge, tank wash water discharge, and clean ballast water discharge to ensure environmental compliance during overboard discharge operations.

How does it work?
The SMART ODME continuously measures oil concentration in the discharge line and calculates oil discharge rates in relation to vessel speed and distance travelled. It records all relevant data and automatically controls discharge to ensure limits defined by MARPOL regulations are not exceeded. Data can be viewed on the LCD display or downloaded to a PC for reporting and inspection purposes.

What problems does it solve?
The system ensures compliance with international oil pollution prevention regulations by preventing illegal oil discharge at sea. It simplifies installation and retrofitting compared to older systems, supports biofuel operations, and provides transparent monitoring and data recording for inspections by port state control authorities.
